I’ve Been an Angel All Year…

Recently, I’ve seen so many bloggers post some photos to share their stories of some really fun flashbacks, so this is a perfect opportunity for me to share mine! I’ve been photo tagged by Xenia from Thanks, Mail Carrier.

This photo was taken a number of years ago.

Could you tell?

My hair is longer, blonder and I don’t have a large bag with diapers and sippy cups falling out of it! I don’t have two little ones grabbing my attention in the midst of tearing the store apart.

Nope, it’s just me, my cute scarf, and of course Santa Baby.

I have to tell you as a grown woman and mother of two children, I still light up when I see that old fellow.

My husband and I have a tradition of going into the city (NYC) every year around the holidays. There is something so magical about New York City at Christmas time. There is an energy felt in that city unlike any other place I’ve been on Earth, especially at Christmas.

We always go in to see the infamous Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and we take a million pictures. One year, we even went ice-skating in Rockefeller Center! There’s actually a BIG story here, but I’ll save that for another time…

We always grab some hot coffee and stand in line to admire the gorgeous windows on 5th Avenue. We eventually make our way over to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, one of the most beautiful cathedrals ever built. FAO Schwarz usually makes our list, and this is where Santa was visiting that day.

So here I am hanging out with Santa himself, telling him what a good girl I’ve been…

Now that I have children of my own, I quickly realized how my husband and I are making holiday memories every year for them, which they will one day pass on to their own children. To us, it’s sort of like the passing of the torch. Although they were not born when this photo was taken, going to “see” Santa Claus is one of the highlights for them every year…and mine as well.

This picture truly makes me smile because seeing Santa Claus always makes me feel like a kid again…and that’s a good place to be.

MEME:

Natalee from Raising Normal Kids recently gave me this Meme. She’s a really fun blogger, so be sure to check her out!

The rules with this Meme are: Copy the questions and write your answer. Then, send this Meme to four others.

Here are my answers:
1. Who is the hottest Movie Star? Jay Hernandez

2. Apart from your house and car, what is the most expensive item you have ever bought: My pair of Manolo Blahnik’s (well…a girl can dream, right?) Actually, before I had children, I dropped the most money on a gorgeous bag I found in a little boutique in Sicily.

3. What is you most treasured memory? Spending every summer at the Jersey Shore with my Nana.

4. What was the best gift you ever received as a child: A Cabbage Patch doll. Her name was Madella Madda. She had yellow hair made of yarn and big blue eyes. I brought her everywhere. I actually still have her!

5. What is the biggest mistake you have ever made? I think mistakes are made so we can learn from them. I would have to say that I made a poor dating choice in college, but then I wouldn’t have grown as a person if I didn’t have that relationship…lessons learned, sometimes the hard way.

6. 4 words to describe yourself: Outgoing, fun, intelligent, and creative

7. What was your highlight or low light of 2008? It was a highlight, because I gave birth to my baby girl!

8. Favorite Film? “Dirty Dancing”… I know, totally cheesy but I love every bit of it.

9. Tell me one thing I don’t know about you. I turned “Sweet 16” in sunny California when I traveled there for a national high school varsity cheerleading competition.

10. If you were a comic book/strip or cartoon character, who would you be? I would be a blonde version of Betty Boop because she’s totally F-U-N!

Transition Time

I have a strange feeling that many of you will appreciate this post. Hubby and I recently had a conversation that went something like this:

Hubby: You know, I’ve been thinking lately…

Theta Mom: About?

Hubby: Well, you know…I work really hard, I’m up so early every morning, I put in really long days…and long weeks at work…

Theta Mom: Uh, yeah…

Hubby: Well, I need some ‘me’ time.

[SILENCE]

Theta Mom: Did you say me time?

Hubby: Yeah, like, you know…transition time.

[MORE SILENCE]

Theta Mom: Transition time???

Hubby: Yeah, like time just for me away from the kids…I need to unwind and make the transition to coming home from work and stuff…So, I’ve decided that I’m gonna take my bike out more often.

[ABOUT TO BREAK THE SILENCE]

Theta Mom: Ok, let me get this straight. You need to take “joy rides” on your motorcycle more often so that you can have time to yourself between your job and home, and this is what you are calling your “transition time?”

Hubby: Yup.

So Theta Moms, when Hubby is out riding his motorcycle, feeling the wind on his face and the freedom of the open road, he’ll be enjoying peaceful trips alone on his bike. His transition time is a total escape…

…and my transition time looks something like this:

Need I say more?

My New Blog Design!!!

So, I have only one question…

How much are you LOVING my new look for Theta Mom?

I am beyond excited at how this site turned out!

I have to give a huge thank you to Lindsey over at Sour Apple Studio. She turned my vision of what I wanted this blog to be into a reality. She took the ideas from my head and translated them into code. It certainly is a beautiful thing.

This totally represents me, my mission, and the essence of Theta Mom!

So ladies, grab my button (is it not the cutest EVER) and let’s get this party started!
